| Offered for sale is an authentic antique hand-colored engraving of the The Pacamah of Guiana, from Ichthyology, Fishes of British Guiana, edited by Sir William Jardine and published 1841–1843. This is an original 19th-century print, not a reproduction. Each engraving measures approximately 4" x 6" (image) and is presented matted and mounted on acid-free, archival materials — ready for framing. The illustrations for Fishes of British Guiana were created by Edward Angelo Goodall, appointed in 1841 by the British government as official artist for the Guyana (then British Guiana) Boundary Expedition under Sir Robert Schomburgk. During the expedition he produced a wealth of watercolours and sketches documenting the region's natural environment, including its vibrant aquatic life — images that remain prized by collectors of natural history and antique zoological art today.
